Strict Nature Reserves

These enthralling locations are ideal for the Adventurous at heart. The beautiful Hakgala wet-land Reserve where the legendary King Rawana’s royal pleasure garden was located, the lovely Ritigala reserve where the supernatural Lord Hanuman (Monkey God), dropped a chunk of a mountain from the Himalaya mountain range, to the exciting Yala wild life sanctuary where over 100 hectares of stimulating wild life can be seen. All these sanctuaries showcase ecosystems from misty wet monsoon forests to fresh-water and marine wetlands with their many species of reptiles, amphibians, mammals, birds, fish and Invertebrates.

Hakgala Strict Nature Reserve
